London Marathon 2026 - Melissa Donate Running has always meant more to me than just fitness — it’s been a way to grow, find community, and give back. The first race I ever ran was in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (a cause very close to my heart), and that experience taught me how powerful it feels to chase a big goal with purpose behind it. It also gave me an incredible community of teammates and supporters who encouraged me every step of the way. This year, I’m running for Love4Life — a charity that supports 11–18-year-olds young women in building self-esteem and forming positive, empowering relationships. This cause resonates deeply with me. Growing up, I struggled with friendships and often felt out of place. That lack of belonging, coupled with perfectionism, led to an eating disorder at 17. So many of my teenage years and early twenties were marked by uncertainty and self-doubt. It’s only in the last few years that I’ve truly grown into self-confidence — and running has been a huge part of that journey.Running has taught me discipline, resilience, and consistency. It’s also connected me to amazing people in every city I’ve lived in — a reminder of how powerful it is when we show up for ourselves and each other. The threads that connect my running journey with Love4Life’s mission are all about planting the seeds of long-term empowerment. Giving young people the right tools early means they grow up with stronger self-worth, healthier relationships, and a lasting belief in their potential. When you empower a young person, you strengthen families and communities.Completing the London Marathon brings me one step closer to my goal of finishing all seven World Marathon Majors — and I’m honored to run for a cause so close to my heart.
